No one’s ever been able to call him!”–Seto Kaiba Exodia as a WHOLE I can’t not give a 5/5 too. It’s more fun and casual than anything, but you can certainly build some Tier 2/3 Decks around Exodia.Īrt: The head definitely gets a 4/5 while the limbs, ominous and powerful as they are united, only get 2/5 each. Exodia likely will always stay in and out of favor, and it hangs around. I had the most success in Nightmare Troubadour with that. When I’d go through and beat the old Yugioh games on DS/GBA/PC, I’d always make an Exodia Deck as ‘best’ as I could with the card pool available in the game. Plenty of retrains and variants out there too (most of which, also, are unplayable, but I digress). also like so many cards, does see new support occasionally…sometimes directly so, and sometimes (usually better support) from things not so directly related to Exodia. Lots of Exodia Decks (appropriately) bec(a/o)me Stall variants…or other alternate wins…Last Turn, Self-Destruct Button, Wave-Motion Cannon, Final Countdown, even some Fire Princess Builds…if your Deck was an alt win condition, odds are, you had Exodia floating around in there, too, probably if only because you had the room to do so. There was a short time in the early days (namely before the/our first Ban List, and even before some Limitations) where Exodia could really move…the problem in that era was, even with some of those now Banned/Limited cards is, we never had a FULL card pool for Exodia to really use and be able to abuse or thrive off. From Yugi beating Kaiba in the OG pilot, to the rare times it popped up here and there from there and beyond. Exodia is definitely a card with some flavor in the game. Exodia will probably work at its best for now while Mystic Mine is legal, cause it’ll probably be back to the drawing board if/when it’s banned.Īrt 4/5 for the TCG art and 5/5 for the OCG art, the Pentagram makes it look cooler.Īlrighty…Alex found 5 reviews of Exodia (three of which happened before I joined the CotD team) so my first review, was our THIRD re-review of Exodia, which was when it fell on the honor of being our 1000th CotD. It’s still a fun card to try and pull off, which really isn’t that hard with a ton of draw power and damage prevention cards in the game. It’s had a little success, but never got to be the dominant force of a meta game. That time in 1999 was really the only time Exodia was the best strategy. There’s even the classic 1999 strategy in Japan with the very old text of Sangan and Witch letting them search off a discard, which isn’t really something highly heard of and I didn’t know about it til I saw this video. You get the classic combo with Gearfried and Butterfly Dagger – Elma alongside a copy of Royal Magical Library, there’s the topping list from Worlds 2012, Chicken Game helped make Exodia more consistent even if the best FTK option was still Magical Explosion, and probably the most modern option was Mystic Mine stall letting you draw the pieces if you didn’t want to go the burn route. Exodia has always been a cool card that players tried to make work various different ways throughout the years. The stats make this searchable off Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan, which is relevant cause you want this to stay in your hand cause once you have this in hand with the Left Arm, Left Leg, Right Arm, and Right Leg of the Forbidden One, you win the Duel outright, and it helps those are also searchable off Sangan and Witch. Bad stats, but a good Type/Attribute combo. When you think of iconic, you think of the first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters where Yugi defeated Kaiba and his 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons with this: Exodia the Forbidden One.Įxodia is a Level 3 DARK Spellcaster with 1000 ATK and DEF.
